SERPONG, ULTIMAGZ – Mahasiswa Komunikasi Strategis Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) adakan acara “PlastiKos: Kita olah Sampah” di Kantin Gedung C pada Selasa (16/3/23). PlastiKos merupakan acara hasil dari kolaborasi antarmahasiswa dengan Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Plasticpay, dan Chatime yang menghadirkan teknologi berupa reverse vending machine (RVM) plastik.
Acara PlastiKos berhubungan dengan Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) sekaligus ajakan untuk para mahasiswa untuk berpartisipasi pada poin ke 12 SDG yakni konsumsi dan produksi yang bertanggung jawab dan poin ke 17 yaitu kemitraan untuk mencapai tujuan. Harapannya, keberadaan PlastiKos dapat menjadi sebuah gerakan keberlanjutan dari mahasiswa dalam berkontribusi terhadap gerakan merawat lingkungan.

PlastiKos adalah program yang diluncurkan dari kerja tim enam mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Communication for Sustainable Development yang diampu oleh dosen Ilmu Komunikasi dan UMN Digital Learning, Kevin Sanly Putera.
Dalam wawancara bersama Ketua PlastiKos Dave Hapien, ia menyampaikan harapannya kepada teman-teman mahasiswa untuk dapat juga berkontribusi menjadi agen perubahan bagi masa depan.
“Menurut aku, Bumi itu bukan sesuatu yang diturunkan dari nenek moyang kita, tetapi Bumi itu adalah suatu hal yang kita pinjam dari anak cucu kita,” katanya dalam wawancara bersama ULTIMAGZ pada Selasa (16/3/23).
Acara PlastiKos sendiri dipersiapkan hanya dalam satu bulan. Dengan bantuan seluruh mahasiswa di Kelas E mulai dari teknis berjalannya acara, tamu undangan, hingga pencarian sponsor dilakukan bersama-sama dalam kurun waktu kurang dari 30 hari.

“Acara yang berlangsung saat ini pun adalah hasil dari banyak improvisasi. Ya, syukurnya tetap berlangsung dengan baik dan meriah dan akhirnya juga menyadarkan semau kolaborator di sini kalau UMN juga berkarya dalam sustainability,” kata Kevin Sanly Putera saat ditanyai mengenai kesulitan dalam persiapan acara.
Di masa mendatang, sampah-sampah botol plastik yang terkumpulkan pada mesin RVM akan didaur ulang dengan dijadikan butiran. Butiran tersebut lalu diubah menjadi recycled polyester staple fiber (Re-PSF) yang merupakan benang dan kain berstandar eco friendly dengan kualitas tinggi.
