SERPONG, ULTIMAGZ.com – Pada Senin (28/08/23), Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) melangsungkan kembali perkuliahan semester ganjil 2023/2024 secara luring. Perkuliahan kembali berlangsung normal, tetapi terdapat beberapa kendala. Salah satunya adalah jaringan WiFi kampus yang kurang lancar, sehingga mengganggu aktivitas perkuliahan.
ULTIMAGZ mengumpulkan berbagai keluhan mahasiswa terkait fasilitas kampus melalui question box Instagram pada Kamis (07/09/23). Selain persoalan antrean lift dan akses parkir, mayoritas responden mengeluhkan akses WiFi kampus yang tidak merata serta lambat.

“WiFi kampus itu lemot banget kalau di lantai atas. Waktu itu gue experience-nya di gedung D lantai 12, dan benar-benar setiap sudutnya itu gak dapet WiFi,” jelas inisial M, mahasiswa Komunikasi Strategis 2021 saat ULTIMAGZ hubungi via telepon pada Minggu (10/09/23).
Akibatnya, M sulit untuk membuka Canva, aplikasi penunjang presentasi di kelas. Lebih dari setengah jam, M dan teman kelompoknya menunggu kestabilan jaringan kampus untuk menyiapkan presentasi kelompok. Sampai akhirnya M dan kawanannya presentasi, ia mengaku belum maksimal mengerjakan bahan presentasi dikarenakan jaringan WiFi kampus lambat.
“Ngebebanin mahasiswa sampai gak bisa ngerjain tugas sampai maksimal,” pungkasnya.
Hal ini pun dirasakan serupa oleh Aldandy atau kerap disapa Dandy, mahasiswa Jurnalistik 2021. Ia mengatakan bahwa kegiatan belajar di kelas terhambat karena jaringan WiFi kampus yang sulit diakses. Ia bercerita, pembelajaran kuliah pada saat itu menggunakan website, tetapi seisi kelas tidak ada yang dapat mengaksesnya karena jaringan Wi-Fi yang bermasalah. Akhirnya, dosen harus membuat modul untuk membantu menjelaskan materi perkuliahan. Kejadian tersebut di gedung D lantai 7.
“Ganggu aktivitas kelas, bahkan bukan mahasiswa saja yang keganggu, bahkan dosennya saja keganggu sama WiFi,” keluh Dandy kepada ULTIMAGZ pada Minggu (10/09/23).
“Kirain gara-gara handphone-nya enggak bisa nangkap sinyal, ternyata di laptop juga begitu. Jadi mau absen pun susah,” lanjutnya.
M dan Dandy juga mengaku bahwa mereka tidak dapat absen kelas di Union, aplikasi untuk mahasiswa melakukan absen. Sebab, absen lewat Union hanya bisa dilakukan dengan WiFi UMN. Sementara itu, M dan Dandy sulit mendapatkan akses WiFi kampus.
Respons IT UMN
Merespons kendala WiFi kampus, Manajer IT UMN Rheemar Hardiyanto menjelaskan bahwa pihaknya sudah melakukan pemeriksaan. Ia pun mengonfirmasi ada ketidakmaksimalan terkait jaringan WiFi, khususnya di gedung D.
“Pada hari Jumat (15/08/23) kemarin tim IT sudah melakukan pengecekkan dan tes di lapangan, khususnya area gedung D lantai 5 sampai 8, hasilnya memang menunjukkan cakupan WiFi khususnya di ruangan-ruangan belakang (area dekat toilet) kurang maksimal,” jawab Rheemar lewat surel kepada ULTIMAGZ, Sabtu (16/09/23).

“Catatan ini akan kami tindak lanjuti dengan perbaikan dan peningkatan jangkauan WiFi di area tersebut,” pungkasnya.
Selain itu, tim IT akan berkoordinasi dengan Biro Informasi akademik (BIA) dan mengusahakan untuk memindahkan kelas-kelas yang tidak tercakup WiFi dengan baik ke kelas lainnya untuk sementara sampai proses perbaikan selesai.
