SERPONG, ULTIMAGZ.com – Penuh dengan warna merah muda yang mendominasi tiap sudut, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” menyajikan kisah mengenai hidup di tengah kemewahan sebuah hotel di pegunungan Zubrowka.
Film yang dirilis pada 2014 ini diceritakan dalam beberapa lapisan narasi yang dimulai dari seorang penulis. Ia berkunjung ke hotel tersebut dan bertemu dengan Zero Moustafa (Tony Revolori), pemilik hotel yang kemudian menceritakan mengenai masa lalunya.

Cerita beralih ke 1930-an, saat The Grand Budapest Hotel sedang dalam masa-masa emasnya. Pada saat itu, Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes) dikenal karena dedikasinya dalam melayani para tamu, mulai dari para bangsawan, selebriti, hingga tokoh-tokoh terpandang.
Gustave digambarkan sebagai pelayan yang memiliki hubungan khusus dengan banyak tamu, seperti Madame D. (Tilda Swinton), seorang perempuan tua kaya raya. Ketika Madame D. meninggal, Gustave mendengar menemukan dirinya menjadi pewaris sebuah lukisan berjudul “Boy with Apple”. Namun, keluarga Madame D. tidak senang dengan keputusan tersebut.
Putra Madame D yang bernama Dmitri (Adrien Brody), menuduh Gustave telah memanipulasi ibunya dan ia berupaya untuk merebut kembali lukisan tersebut. Dmitri menjebak Gustave dalam kasus pembunuhan. Akhirnya, Gustave ditangkap dan meminta bantuan Zero yang pada saat itu hanya menduduki peran sebagai penjaga lobi.
Gustave dan Zero akhirnya menjalankan hari sebagai buron dan berpetualang untuk mengungkapkan rahasia mengenai wasiat Madame D. Sementara itu, The Grand Budapest Hotel mulai kehilangan kejayaannya seiring dengan kekacauan yang melanda Zubrowka.
“The Grand Budapest Hotel” menawarkan lebih dari petualangan seru yang penuh dengan komedi absurd. Ceritanya berlapis-lapis, dimulai dengan penulis yang mengingat kembali kisah yang diceritakan oleh Zero.
