SERPONG, ULTIMAGZ.com – Dunia sastra kembali dihebohkan oleh kemenangan penulis ternama Korea Selatan, Han Kang sebagai penerima hadiah Nobel Sastra 2024.
Han Kang merupakan penulis perempuan Asia pertama yang memenangkan penghargaan prestisius tersebut. Melansir theconversation.com, Han Kang merupakan perempuan ke-18 dalam sejarah yang menerima hadiah Nobel sastra.

Melansir liputan6.com, awal mulanya perempuan yang lahir di Gwangju pada 27 November 1970 itu berkarir sebagai penyair, baru setelahnya beralih menjadi novelis. Tidak hanya menulis novel, ia juga menulis puisi dan cerpen. Karyanya yang paling terkenal adalah novel berjudul The Vegetarian yang terbit pada 2007 lalu.
The Vegetarian menceritakan seorang perempuan biasa bernama Kim Young Hye yang memutuskan untuk menjadi vegetarian karena banyak mengalami mimpi buruk. Hubungannya dengan sang suami menjadi bermasalah karena obsesi pada vegetarian tersebut. Cerita pun bergulir semakin ganjil dan mencekam.
Dalam novel ini, Young Hye berjuang untuk mempertahankan agensi tubuh dirinya dari suami, saudara ipar, dan ayahnya. Oleh karena itu, The Vegetarian dinilai sebagai karya yang tajam akan kritik atas kontrol patriarki.
Setelah diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Inggris, novel ini berhasil memenangkan Man Booker International Prize pada 2016. Kemenangan ini membuat Han Kang sebagai penulis yang mulai mengenalkan sastra Korea ke kancah global.
Dalam edisi bahasa Indonesia, The Vegetarian sudah diterjemahkan oleh Penerbit Baca dengan judul yang sama pada 2017.
Selain The Vegetarian, ada novel Han Kang yang tidak kalah terkenal, yakni Human Acts atau terjemahan dalam bahasa Indonesianya adalah Mata Malam.
Mata Malam adalah novel fiksi sejarah tentang peristiwa Gwangju 1980. Dalam novel tersebut, Han Kang memainkan beragam macam sudut pandang, mulai dari korban, orang tua korban, hingga arwah.
Tema yang dieksplor Han Kang dalam karya-karyanya mencakup sejarah, trauma, identitas dan kemanusiaan.
Perjalanan Karier Han Kang Sang Pemenang Nobel Sastra
Han Kang menghabiskan masa kecil dan remajanya di Suyuri, Seoul dan merupakan putri dari novelis Han Seung Won. Setelah itu, dia berkuliah di Universitas Yonsei dengan jurusan sastra Korea dan lulus pada 1993.
Perjalanan sastranya dimulai sejak tahun 1993. Saat itu Han Kang debut sebagai penyair yang salah satu puisi terkenalnya berjudul “Winter in Seoul” di majalah sastra Munhak-gwa sahoe (Sastra dan Masyarakat), dilansir dari liputan6.com.
Satu tahun kemudian, ia menang Kontes Sastra Musim Semi Seoul Shinmun atas cerita pendeknya yang berjudul “Red Anchor.” Pada 1995, Han Kang sudah merilis kumpulan cerita pendek.
