SERPONG, ULTIMAGZ.com – Media sosial adalah suatu medium dan sarana yang digunakan untuk berinteraksi di dunia maya. Konten yang tersedia bermacam-macam dan tentunya dapat mengundang komentar dari pengguna lainnya. Namun, sayangnya perilaku warganet Indonesia tidak mencerminkan etika yang baik karena tingkat literasi baca yang rendah.
Salah satu kasus yang sempat menjadi sorotan adalah ketika warganet Indonesia dijuluki warganet paling tidak sopan seantero Asia Tenggara 2021 lalu. Bukannya memperbaiki diri, warganet Indonesia justru berbondong-bondong menyerbu kolom komentar akun Instagram Microsoft hingga kolom komentar akhirnya dinonaktifkan.
Selain itu, ada pula ulah warganet Indonesia yang menjadi pemberitaan di Korea Selatan. Aktris Korea Selatan, Han So-Hee menjadi korban dari perilaku buruk warganet Indonesia. Ketika drama “The World of The Married” tayang pada 2020 lalu, pengguna Instagram asal Indonesia memenuhi kolom komentar akun Han So-Hee dengan kata-kata kasar hanya karena karakter yang ia perankan dalam drama tersebut adalah seorang perusak rumah tangga pasangan lain.
Melansir hootsuite.com, 61,8% dari 273 juta penduduk Indonesia atau kira-kira 170 juta jiwa adalah pengguna aktif media sosial per tahun 2021. Dengan angka yang cukup tinggi, warganet Indonesia tersebar luas di berbagai media sosial.
Walau demikian, warganet Indonesia belum menunjukkan perilaku yang baik dalam berkomentar dan mengunggah konten di media sosial. Hal ini dipicu oleh rendahnya literasi membaca yang dimiliki masyarakat Indonesia. Sudah bukan rahasia bahwa literasi membaca di Indonesia masih tergolong rendah bahkan memprihatinkan.
Melansir dari perpustakaan.kemendagri.go.id, tingkat literasi Indonesia berada di peringkat 62 dari 70 negara berdasarkan survei Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) yang dilakukan oleh Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) pada 2019.

Berikut beberapa perilaku warganet Indonesia yang disebabkan oleh rendahnya literasi membaca.
1. Mudah percaya dan menyebarkan berita palsu
Kemalasan membaca membuat warganet Indonesia sering kali mendapat informasi yang salah atau tidak akurat. Hanya membaca judul, tetapi langsung menyimpulkan sendiri sudah jadi kebiasaan warganet Indonesia. Hal ini diperburuk dengan media yang tak jarang menggunakan clickbait hingga membuat judul dan isi dari berita tersebut tidak selaras.
Berada di era post-truth juga makin memperparah situasi ini. Melansir dari legaleraindonesia.com, di era post-truth orang-orang lebih mementingkan hal untuk mendukung keyakinan mereka daripada mencari fakta yang objektif. Situasi ini melahirkan berbagai macam media yang bias dan menyebarkan hoaks.
Ketidakinginan untuk membaca membuat warganet Indonesia tidak dapat membedakan berita yang terpercaya dan yang tidak. Alih-alih memeriksa akurasinya, warganet Indonesia justru menyebarkan berita yang terkadang merupakan berita palsu atau hoaks. Dengan minat baca yang rendah, maka warganet Indonesia kerap salah mengartikan suatu informasi.
2. Ujaran kebencian
Membaca dapat membuat pikiran seseorang menjadi lebih toleran dan terbuka. Seseorang yang banyak membaca juga umumnya simpatik dengan orang lain. Namun, sebaliknya ketika seseorang tidak memiliki minat membaca, maka mereka umumnya memiliki pemikiran yang cenderung tertutup. Tak jarang ujaran kebencian atau rasisme akan suku, agama, ras, dan antargolongan (SARA) dilontarkan kepada orang lain.
Selain itu, ada pula yang mengeluarkan komentar negatif terkait dengan fisik atau hidup pribadi orang lain. Kurangnya literasi membaca pun membuat warganet Indonesia mudah tergiring opini. Banyak yang hanya mengikuti perilaku pengguna media sosial lainnya dan asal menghakimi.

Melihat situasi tersebut, ada baiknya masyarakat Indonesia meningkatkan lagi minat membaca mereka. Menurutnya, dengan kemampuan literasi yang tinggi, seseorang akan bisa mencari, memilah, mengolah, memanfaatkan, dan menyebarluaskan informasi secara benar.
